This year Moorundi were fortunate to receive a second round of funding to support the continuation of Fit & Deadly Futures in 2021/22.
What is Fit & Deadly Futures?
Fit & Deadly Futures focuses on promoting healthy, active lifestyles and encourages practicing healthy habits. This year the team were able to run two programs that engages all age groups.
The first program was held via a private Facebook group and also on Strava which is an app that we used to record physical activity. In total, 89 people joined the group to complete an 8 week running program and prepare for the FDF Fun-Run at Sturt Reserve in Murray Bridge.
The second program is a 5 week basketball program for youth who wish to learn 3-vs-3 Basketball. The team has nearly 50 registered participants across Meningie and Murray Bridge, which will make up to 12 teams in total for the 3-vs-3 event to be held on the 24th of September.
Participants so far have received their very own Fit & Deadly Futures Basketball singlet, and each week they also take home a questionnaire based around health/fitness. Those who return their completed questionnaire the following week will go in the draw to win a $50 Intersport voucher.
We look forward to hosting the 3-vs-3 tournament in late September at Unity College, Murray Bridge. Further details about this event will be announced next week.
This is a partnership project funded by Wellbeing SA
